Healing looks different for everyone

There's No Wrong Way to Heal

Some people want to talk. Some want to start with their breath or their body. Some just want to know they're not alone. All of that is okay, and all of it counts as healing.

If you'd like to read a little before you reach out, here's a piece on what healing can actually look like, and one on taking care of yourself while you support a survivor.

Common questions

You Might Be Wondering

Is counseling really free?

Yes. Counseling for survivors through Karolina's Place is free. There's no insurance to sort out and no bill.

Do I have to report to the police first?

No. You can get counseling without ever reporting. If you ever want to learn about your legal options, we can walk you through them, but that's always your choice.

What if it happened a long time ago?

You're welcome here, whether it was last night or decades ago. It's never too late to get support.

Will what I say stay private?

Yes. What you share stays confidential, with a few legal exceptions, like when someone is in immediate danger. Your counselor will explain those in plain language before you start.
