Internships at Peace of Mind Foundation
Meaningful, educational experiences connected to real work that supports healing
At Peace of Mind Foundation, we believe internships should be meaningful, educational, and connected to real work that supports healing and community wellbeing.
Because our work is interdisciplinary, interns can see how healing and support occur across multiple systems. At our center, support may include counseling, advocacy, prevention education, community outreach, resource coordination, public awareness, and the operational work that allows these services to exist.
Areas of Internship Opportunity
Depending on the student’s educational program, training level, and placement requirements, interns may support work in the following areas.

Counseling and Clinical Support
Interns in counseling, social work, or related graduate programs may have opportunities to observe trauma-focused counseling services, assist with psychoeducational materials, support group development, and learn about trauma treatment approaches under appropriate supervision.
Survivor Advocacy and Support
Interns may assist with resource coordination, referral research, preparation of survivor resource materials, and other advocacy-related activities that support individuals navigating services.
Prevention and Education
Interns may support prevention programming focused on consent education, healthy relationships, and community awareness. This may include assisting with educational materials, workshops, and outreach efforts in schools and community settings.
Community Outreach and Partnerships
Interns may help strengthen relationships with local organizations, schools, libraries, and community partners. Responsibilities may include outreach support, event coordination, and assisting with public education initiatives.
Nonprofit Capacity Building
Interns interested in nonprofit leadership and organizational development may assist with program development, research, grant support, reporting preparation, and other projects that strengthen the foundation’s long-term impact.
Marketing and Communications
Interns may contribute to newsletters, blog posts, educational materials, social media content, and public awareness campaigns that help connect the community to our programs and services.
Operations and Program Support
Interns may learn about the operational systems that sustain a nonprofit organization, including data collection, documentation processes, resource organization, and workflow coordination.
A Learning Environment Rooted in Real Work
Our goal is to create internship experiences that are supportive, educational, and grounded in real-world learning. Interns receive supervision, guidance, and opportunities for reflection and growth. Responsibilities are assigned based on training level, educational requirements, and readiness.
Training Requirements
Students placed within sexual violence programming are required to complete the 40-hour Sexual Violence Advocate Training prior to engaging in direct service with survivors. This training ensures that all individuals supporting survivors are prepared to provide ethical, trauma-focused, and survivor-centered care.

Students interested in completing an internship with Peace of Mind Foundation are invited to submit an application so we can better understand their program requirements, interests, and availability, and determine the most appropriate placement and supervision. The application will ask for your name and contact information, school and degree program, internship or practicum requirements, areas of interest, availability, and resume.
